5th Annual Norcal UVSA Summit Conference at UC Berkeley!

The United Vietnamese Student Associations of Norcal (UVSA) has an annual leadership conference called Summit at which Vietnamese college students across the Bay Area and even from Southern California and out of state come together.  We are happy to let you all know that UC Berkeley’s Cal VSA will be hosting the next UVSA Summit Conference this coming Fall 2011 from October 7th-9th.

This year’s theme hopes to focus on bringing awareness to current issues that affect the Vietnamese-American community, to empower the intercollegiate VSAs to continue to have dialogue about these issues and with each other.

We would definitely love your help with planning (programming, hospitality, and external).  If you’re interested, follow THIS LINK HERE.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to contact the co-directors Stephenie Le and Alexander Vu (le.stephenie@gmail.com || alexmetalix@gmail.com).

Stay tuned for more info as Summit comes around on Oct. 7-9!

Black April: In Commemoration of the Fall of Saigon || Documentary Screening & Candlelight Vigil

On April 30th, 1975, Saigon and the rest of Vietnam fell to the Communist government, causing many families to flee to other countries as refugees. In commemoration to the end of the Vietnam War and the stories of the Vietnamese diaspora, come join us at our 4th General Meeting.

There will be time for both personal and group reflection on the Vietnamese-American journey. We’ll also be screening a documentary screening and will have a group candlelight vigil to pay homage to the blessings and hardships of our families.

Bring yourselves, your friends, your hearts, and your open minds, and we’ll see you this Thursday evening!

Where: 156 Dwinelle
When: Thursday, April 28th at 7pm
Why: To get a different perspective on our past & present :)
